Gas Safe Dewsbury

Many of us rely on gas appliances to heat our homes, provide hot water and cook our food. However poorly maintenance gas appliances are a serious safety threat to our family, pets and homes.

As Gas Safe engineers we recognise the importance being gas aware and ultimately gas safe. The Gas Safe Register was created in 2009 (replacing Corgi) to raise awareness of the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances, which can lead to gas leaks, fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.

At BrightGas we want to ensure that you are safe in your home. By following these few simple checks, you will increase the safety of yourself and your family whilst in your home:

  • Check your gas appliances every year. Gas appliances should be safety checked once a year and serviced regularly by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Tenants – make sure your landlord arranges this.
  • Check your engineer is Gas Safe registered. You can find and check an engineer at www.GasSafeRegister.co.uk or call 0800 408 5500. At BrightGas we are a Gas Safe registered engineer, so if you’re in Dewsbury, Ossett, Batley and the surrounding areas we’re sure we can help!
  • Check your engineer’s Gas Safe Register ID card. Make sure they are qualified for the work you need doing. You can find this information on the back of the card. Also you can input the licence number from the engineer’s ID card. Consumers will be able to see pictures of the registered engineers and details of their qualifications.

It is also important to be aware of the six signs of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning: headaches, dizziness, breathlessness, nausea, collapse and loss of consciousness. Unsafe gas appliances can put you at risk of CO poisoning, gas leaks, fires and explosions. By spotting the signs early you can ensure that your family are safe. Additionally, it is also important to fit an audible carbon monoxide alarm, which will alert you if there is carbon monoxide in your home.

At BrightGas we want to ensure that you are safe in your home, so if you suspect any issues with a gas appliance of realise that your appliances are in need of a service, give us a call, 01924 631177.

Eventually it gets to a point where the cost of constantly repairing your current boiler is no longer economical. Forking out for repairs on a faulty boiler if more trouble than it’s worth. Besides, after investing in all new boiler now, and paying in instalments is probably similar to emergency call outs, especially if parts are expensive and difficult to source. • Conventional boiler – A conventional boiler heats your home direct from the boiler whilst also producing hot water from a hot water cylinder which is often fed by a cold water storage cistern located in the loft and a feed and expansion cistern – also located in the loft.

Emergency plumber Ossett

Emergency plumber Ossett

When you’re in the need of a plumber in an emergency, it is important to know that you have someone to rely on. At Bright Gas we have a comprehensive emergency plumbing plan in place, meaning that when you’ve got an emergency we’ll be there.

Emergency plumber Ossett: Our latest emergency call out

Yesterday we had an emergency call out from a worried customer, who had woken up to find that her central heating was not on and had tried a number of possible solutions to get it back on. Luckily our emergency plumber wasn’t far away in Batley and was able to be there in 30 minutes. On arrival, our emergency plumber isolated the boiler and found that there was in fact a leak in the cellar of the property.

The burst pipe in cellar of the property was the reason that the central heating was not working but had not been identified as the lady did not use the cellar space. Our emergency plumber was able to locate the leak, identify the cause and diagnose the necessary course of actions.

Unfortunately, our emergency plumber did not have the necessary parts in his van for the boiler model the lady had in her home, so ordered in the parts to be collected later on in the afternoon. After collecting the parts it took our engineer 90 minutes to repair the burst pipe and reset the boiler.

Our heating engineer we also completed a service on the boiler as this hadn’t been done for over 4 years. An annual boiler service could have prevented this from occurring and the part replaced sooner.

“Extremely pleased with the work carried out by Steve Folan and Team. When I woke up I could feel that the house was cold but had no what was going on. I had no idea what to do, but Googled for local emergency plumbers and Bright Gas appeared. I was surprised at just how fast they would be at my house and also how helpful they were before they arrived. They were great through the entire process and would recommend to anyone as I was slightly nervous about getting someone in that I’d never used before” Elaine Binns, Ossett.

 Emergency plumber Ossett: What’s next?

Before the team left, our team have provided Elaine with a range of different options for the future. The main thing being that she needs to have an annual boiler service to prevent things like this from happening.

If problems keep arising, it may be more economical to have a boiler replacement a – A new Worcester Bosch boiler would come with 10 a year parts and labour guarantee along with a savings on the gas bills by up to £250 a year.

If you need an emergency plumber Ossett make sure Bright Gas are your first call. 01924 631177.

How to avoid a boiler break down Batley

How to avoid a boiler break down Batley

At Bright Gas we provide a boiler breakdown service, aiming to make boiler breakdowns as stress-free and hassle-free as possible. However, we want to try and ensure that your boiler never reaches this point. With a little bit of TLC your boiler should stay in great shape for many years, so here’s some great hints and tips that are all low-cost and affordable ways to keep your boiler working perfectly, every day of the year.

How to avoid a boiler break down Batley: Arrange annual gas boiler services

One of the most beneficial ways to prevent your boiler breaking down by getting an annual service. At Bright Gas we can arrange for a Gas Safe-registered engineer to come to your property once a year so they can check your boiler is working perfectly. A gas boiler service will ensure that your boiler is in a good working condition and that every component is working as it should, which should significantly reduce the chance of your boiler breaking down in the future. Plus, protect you and your family from harmful carbon monoxide poisoning.

How to avoid a boiler break down Batley: Insulate your pipes

The best way to keep on top of pipes during the winter is to protect them with a foam layer (called lagging) which will help to prevent them freezing and bursting. This helps to keep the frost away from outside pipes, as the warmth of the pipe combined with frost can allow pipes to burst. Pipe insulation – available at almost every DIY and home improvement store – will stop your pipes from seizing up when the thermostat drops below zero.

Your gas boiler’s condensate pipes are at particular risk of freezing during the winter, and when these freeze, a boiler breakdown is almost inevitable. Pipe insulation won’t only protect your boiler – it will also protect your wallet, as it will improve the efficiency of your central heating system. Because this home improvement is so cheap, and because it can save you money, it should pay for itself in a couple of years.

How to avoid a boiler break down Batley: Know your boiler

Knowing how your boiler works will give you advanced warning of any faults or problems.

The water pressure should typically at a similar bar constantly, and should not significantly alter. If you notice that the water pressure on your boiler is wrong, it is important to ask for advice sooner rather than later.

You should also know what to do when your pilot light goes yellow or if your pilot light blows out.

How to avoid a boiler break down Batley: Don’t be afraid to call out the experts!

One of the key ways to avoid a boiler break down Batley and beyond is get help sooner rather than later. When you’re worried that your boiler isn’t working properly, you should call our Boiler breakdown service immediately. Waiting until the whole system goes defunct is unnecessary and can actually be dangerous to the boiler.

Smart Thermostats Birstall

Smart Thermostats Birstall

Smart Thermostats Birstall: what are they?

Smart thermostats are a smart technology that let you remotely control your home’s temperature via a tablet, smartphone or desktop for greater control over your central heating. Giving you complete flexibility with how you heat your home in the winter months ahead.
A typical room thermostat just lets you change the temperature in your home using a dial or control panel. A smart thermostat gives you more efficient, more user friendly and more accessible control over your home’s heating, even when you are away from your home.

Smart Thermostats Birstall: How does a smart thermostat benefit me?

As the price of energy continues to rise, newer and smarter technology is being continually developed to make heating systems as efficient as possible. Boilers are now more efficient than ever, but heating your home can still be expensive if you’re not smart with your usage. With up to 60% of household energy consumed through central heating, even small changes in your usage can produce significant financial savings.
The ability to remotely control a home’s temperature appeals to those with hectic schedules; if you have a late-running meeting there’s no reason to heat an empty home, right? On holiday and realised you forgot to turn off the heat? Fixing the error is just a few taps away on your smartphone. As long as you have an internet connection, whether Wi-Fi or 4G, you can adjust your heating to suit you and your family.
Smart thermostats don’t immediately save you money on installation, but as they provide the ability to heat your home more efficiently which should save you in the long run. You will also receive reports about your usage, which can help you better understand your heating usage, and adjust your behaviour and preferences accordingly to save money.

Smart Thermostats Birstall: The difference between smart controls and traditional central heating controls?

Traditional central heating thermostats offer a basic level of control and allows users to change the temperature of the whole house, but these are often left at the same temperature and rarely changed. Settings are usually changed via a dial or a keypad. Smart controls offer a much greater level of control – usually over the internet via a smartphone, tablet or computer – as well as a more intuitive user interface, making it simpler and easier to take control of your energy usage.

Smart Thermostats Birstall: How do smart thermostats adapt to your needs

Each smart thermostat control is supplied with a pre-set programme that can then be easily modified to suit your requirements. Smart Thermostats are highly adaptable and can be programmed to work with a number of devices, so you can schedule the heating to work with your busy family life.

Smart thermostats can really help you to take control of your central heating system and use it as and when you need it. So you can set your central heating to the perfect temperature for you getting in from a busy day at work, perfect!
